Trick shots

Ok, perhaps these aren't trick shots as such, just shots that amused or are landmarks.

I'm sorry about the quality of some of the images, they were taken on my phone (when phones had poor cameras)

Robin Hood

Before I'd managed to get six on a target, I 'Robin Hooded' an arrow. Basically, the shot was so accurate I hit the back of the arrow and took off the nock. Or I just happened to get lucky... or unlucky!

The arrow was a mess, a large chunk had been removed.

This now hangs on my desk as a reminder... that even with a longbow you can still be accurate.

The arrow that hit isn't square as the first arrow deflected it slightly.

Please, note the location of the other arrows though. Not exactly snugly together!

First Six Outdoors

The first time I got all six on an outdoor target, at 60 yards. A proud moment, and not often repeatable!

The sixth arrow is just visible at 10 o'clock black.

First Six Indoors

Again, the first time I hit the target six times. That was a relief, until then I'd been hitting the back net with monotonous regularity.

Yeah, I know, indoors you only shoot in threes.

Score!

At I can't find the other two pictures, so I'll leave it at this one taken outdoors in December 2008. Yes, that is frost.

When I shot outdoors in March 2009 I discovered a National score sheet left in the folder. It was the bottom of the one I had used this day...I recognised it because of the hole!

I seem to have a knack for hitting the score boards, a pity as the new ones are plastic and will shatter...

Grouped

A nice little grouping. Just a shame it wasn't a little further to the left.

I know, I know, it was still three nines.

10, 10, 10

My first triple ten ever. Ahhhhh...

Only just as well... but I had a couple of other archers confirm the third ten.

Highly Strung

This shot clearly shows my skill as an archer, to manage pierce through a bit of rope so cleanly.

Yeah, I know, it means I missed! Kind of puts a dampener on the idea of shooting through rope with an arrow, it simply parted the threads.

X Marks the Spot

Right in the centre, directly on the x. Very satisfying.

 Cross

Two bouncers (one off a leg) that somehow managed to end up like this. Of course it was pure skill (ha, ha).

 Bouncer!

Another bouncer, this one came back with such force it buried the nock into the ground, the point is actually in the air.

 Leggy

Ouch! No damage to the arrow, but plenty to the leg. The perils of the longbow archer.

I also trapped more than one in the top of the stand:
