Troubleshooting arrows

Once you have your arrows, you should shoot them to see how they fly.

You can calibrate your arrows, see Weighing and Spineing Arrows for details.

Numbering the arrows can help you to identify arrows that have problems. You should also check to see that they are straight, as any twist in the shaft can cause the arrows to turn. Arrows that consistently don't shoot straight can be kept as reserves only.

A good way to do this is to shoot them indoors several times. Keep a note of those that deviate, and see if they consistently do the same thing. I try to shoot a net set four or five times before deciding on the set I'll use in scoring rounds.

If they go to the right, then they are too weak. You could try replacing the point with a lighter one, or cutting down the length of the arrow as they may be too long.

If they fly to the left they are too stiff, and you should use a heavier point to lighten them.
